Nelson Boateng has a Diploma in Network Engineering and other certificates from professional courses with recognized institutions. With over fifteen years of experience in the recycling industry, Nelson is a professional in his industry. He has carved his path through experience at other Recycling Companies prior to setting up Nelplast Eco Ghana Limited in 2013. Now with the freedom to take the lead, he has designed and built the extruder and other machinery used in the recycling of plastic waste into new raw materials. His work has received numerous awards and recognition by the Ghanaian Ministry of the Interior and The Ministry of Trade & Industry.

When we came across the incredible results Nelplast was having on the local community, we decided to extend our alliance by providing his company with a unique grant to support the scaling of his company. And thanks to our incredible donors and venture philanthropists, we’ve been able to direct funding that has created a 15% increase of new jobs for local beneficiaries. These new hires are instrumental in building more machines to process even more waste!

In the coming months we will be collaborating with local universities to set up R&D projects for clean energy and storage systems made by local Ghanaian innovators in an effort to help Nelplast go even further with their commitment to Green Manufacturing. Nelplast Ghana limited is an Integrated Environmental and Social Impact Solutions Company located at Katamanso near Ashaiman (a suburb of Tema) in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. After several natural disasters to the region, Nelplast evolved into a green-environment advocate, which is what inspired the production of the acclaimed “Eco Bricks”. This vision also sits firmly in the country’s quest to be a champion of cleanliness in Africa. The aim of Nelplast Ghana Ltd is to rid this country of plastic waste, and create secure job opportunities for the local collectors whilst advancing the global sustainable agenda of the United Nations SDGs. Today, Nelplast Ghana Limited employs 74 direct workers and over 300 indirect workers as plastic waste collectors and aggregators, the majority of whom are female residents within the Ashaiman-Katamanso enclave in Ghana.

We are thrilled to be merging our efforts with our global partner in Ghana and are galvanized to report back with our measures of impact over the next year!
